FAQ

You Must Have Questions

What is fostering?

Fostering involves providing a safe, stable, and nurturing home for children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families. The aim is to support their wellbeing, development, and future outcomes.

We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds who can provide a safe and supportive home environment. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to safeguard children, promote their welfare, and work as part of a professional team.

No formal qualifications are required. However, all foster carers must complete training and demonstrate the skills and commitment needed to care for children and young people.

Application & Process

What is the process of becoming a foster carer?

The process includes an initial enquiry, a full assessment with background checks, mandatory training, and approval by a fostering panel. Once approved, carers are matched with suitable placements.

The assessment process varies depending on individual circumstances, but it is carried out thoroughly to ensure carers are fully prepared and suitable.

All applicants undergo enhanced DBS checks, references, and a comprehensive assessment to ensure they can safeguard and support children effectively.
